FCA Presents Check to Hungry at Home

Echols County High School's FCA Sponsor, Student Representatives and Counselor present a $770 check to Hungry at Home organization for use by Echols and Lowndes County. If you would like more information or if you would like to contribute monetary donations, new backpacks, food items, or your time to the Hungry at Home program, please contact Karen Black, Echols County Schools' Counselor, at 229-559-2486.

Echols County Middle School Students Participate in a Math Competition at Valdosta State University

Middle school students from all over South Georgia came together last Tuesday, April 30th at Valdosta State University to attend a Mathematics Competition. Students were asked to complete a fifty question assessment in forty minutes.  One competitor, Elizabeth Coleman described the test as, "Very difficult to a large extent." Questions on the assessment include a wide variety of topics including historical and geographical information. These multi-step problems each had five answer choices available.  The mathematics content was above grade level and consisted of difficult vocabulary making the exam a challenging task for all.  Sixth grade student, Brooke ranked among the Top 10 of all competing sixth grade students.
