Thank you to the many families who have already donated time building and painting booths to make this year’s fall festival better than ever. Two-liter drinks and candy donations will be appreciated. We will not need any donations for our new cupcake walk.
PK-8 parents, please look for a booth sign up sheet Friday to volunteer your time. We hope to see you there!

Hands-On Learning in Basic Ag!
Mr. Majeski’s Basic Agriculture students have been getting some real-world, hands-on experience learning about tractor maintenance, safety, and operation.
Students are learning the different parts and systems of the tractor, how to properly inspect and maintain equipment, and—most importantly—how to operate it safely. As part of the unit, every student will have the opportunity to get behind the wheel and drive the tractor under Mr. Majeski’s supervision.
Experiences like this are what agricultural education is all about: taking what students learn in the classroom and putting it into practice. These are practical skills that can serve them on the farm, in future agricultural careers, and throughout life.
We’re proud to see our students learning by doing!

Our ECHS junior class recently toured Valdosta State University, South Georgia State College on the VSU campus, and Georgia Military College! Students learned about admissions requirements and degree programs while getting a firsthand look at college life, including sharing a meal in the VSU Student Union.
We also had the special treat of seeing some of our ECHS alumni along the way! Former ECHS student Makenzye Spivey surprised us and spoke with the junior class about her experience as a current SGSC student. 💚
This visit is part of the ECHS School Counseling Department’s ongoing college and career readiness efforts to expose students to a variety of postsecondary options throughout high school and help them begin thinking about what comes next.

Our reading with families’ event was EPIC! Pre-K and Kindergarten family members were able to enjoy a Holt’s donut and refreshments while they read with their child and then take a book home. We also shared some facts on the importance of reading/ early literacy and tips to use at home. We had such a wonderful turnout! Remember to incorporate reading into your daily routines; even 10 minutes a day can make such a difference! Thank you to Echols County Family Connection for helping sponsor this event. And Go Wildcats!

This week, Biology students stepped into the role of forensic lab scientists as they tested "stomach contents" from a mysterious murder case. Students tested their samples for carbohydrates, proteins, and lipids and analyzed the evidence just like scientists in a forensic lab.

Learning Math with Cheez-Its!
Third grade made arrays come to life today! Our students used Cheez-Its to build arrays and practice understanding rows, columns, multiplication, and repeated addition. Who knew math could be so delicious?

A big THANK YOU to our local firefighters for coming out this week to visit with our PreK and Kindergarten students!
Our little ones loved learning about fire safety, asking questions, and seeing our community helpers in action. We are so thankful for those who show up for our kids and our community! Thank you for being some of our everyday heroes!

School pictures will go home this week, and the ordering deadline has been extended until Oct. 2nd.

Yesterday, our PreK students celebrated International Dot Day, inspired by Peter H. Reynolds’ beloved book The Dot! Our little artists learned that sometimes all it takes is one small dot—and a little courage—to “make your mark.” Proudly wearing plenty of colorful dots, our students were reminded that everyone has something special to share.

If I Built a School…
Our 3rd graders put their imaginations to work as they became authors and created their own stories about “If I Built a School.”
From unique ideas and exciting school designs to creative details, our students showed just how powerful their imaginations can be! They then stepped up to present their stories to their classmates, building confidence and practicing their communication skills.
We are so proud of these young authors for thinking creatively, writing boldly, and sharing their ideas with confidence!

Save the Date for our next Title 1 EPIC Event: Reading with Families for our PreK and Kindergarten students. Friday, Sept. 25th.
Our ninth-grade students recently took part in our annual Commitment to Graduate Ceremony. Each student signed a white graduation gown as a symbol of their commitment to graduate high school. When they are seniors, they will vote on a teacher to wear the special gown at their graduation ceremony. They also received a Class of 2030 T-shirt, certificate, and bracelet to remind them of the importance of the commitment they made.
Commitment to Graduate is a high school-wide initiative organized through our School Counseling Department to keep graduation and student success in focus from day one.
A special thank you to Echols Family Connection for sponsoring the gifts and refreshments and helping make this day special for our students!
